Connecting Culture: HCE Extends Fibre to the Art Gallery of Hamilton

3 minute read

The Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH) is one of Canada’s oldest public art galleries and a cultural landmark for the City of Hamilton. To support its mission of connecting the community through art, AGH relies on strong digital infrastructure. Reliable connectivity powers day-to-day operations and protects critical communications. When bandwidth constraints and an unresponsive provider began to cause problems, AGH turned to HCE Telecom for a scalable, high-performance solution.

Extending Fibre to a Cultural Landmark

HCE expanded its network footprint by building dedicated fibre optic cable directly to the gallery. With this upgrade, AGH now benefits from premium business internet delivered over dedicated fibre. To further safeguard operations, HCE added automatic managed failover over DSL. This ensures that if the fibre path experiences an outage, critical services like voice over IP continue to run smoothly without disruption.

This new solution replaced a legacy service that lacked both bandwidth and scalability. By leveraging HCE’s local expertise and dedicated infrastructure, AGH now has the performance and reliability it needs to support both day-to-day operations and future growth.

Rapid Response with SIP Trunking

In addition to building fibre, AGH also needed immediate support for its voice services. When its existing provider became unresponsive during a critical time, HCE quickly delivered a temporary SIP Trunking solution. This rapid turnaround allowed the gallery to maintain voice operations and highlighted HCE’s ability to move fast when customers need it most.

“The high level of performance, support, and responsiveness we’ve received from HCE’s account team and technical staff has been outstanding,” said Ryan Carver, Lead of Security, Safety, and IT at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. “Their ability to move quickly and deliver reliable solutions has made a tangible difference for our operations.”
